The report of the two Parliamentary committees into BHS was very concerning, and shows why the Government is determined to tackle corporate irresponsibility and reform the economy so it works for everyone, not just the privileged few.
I stand by the comments that I made about Philip Green on ITV's The Agenda. Green is the embodiment of what is wrong with the worst bits of British business, and we should not turn a blind eye to his greediness.
Nevertheless, whilst I am glad that MPs supported the motion to strip Green of his honour, this vote was not binding for the Government as such recommendations must come from the Honours Forfeiture Committee, whilst the final decision rests with the Queen. Nevertheless, I am sure that the Government will take this vote as a clear and serious message from the House, and I am sure that the Honours Forfeiture Committee will also take it into consideration when deciding on this matter.
