Broxtowe MP, Anna Soubry, has met Boots executives following the announcement that the company would be cutting 700 non-store based jobs, including 400 at their Beeston headquarters.
Anna said: “This announcement is incredibly disappointing, particularly when the economy is moving in the right direction.”
“When I met Boots, they did assure me that not all cuts would be individual job losses; positions will be lost but in many cases staff will be retrained or redeployed to other roles. Nevertheless he was also clear that there will also be redundancies but they will do all they can to do the right thing by making sure those that do lose their jobs have the right support moving forward.”
“I also wanted to make sure that Boots remain committed to Beeston and they made it quite clear that their announcement is not the beginning of the end.”
